Home for Christmas

16th December 2016 - 6th January 2017

Being away from home and the ones you love for an extended time really pulls at your heartstrings. For all the amazing adventures we have had so far, there have been days with tears for the want of being back with our family.

After almost 9 months on the road, couldn't wait to get home and hug and kiss our everyone and have lots of fun with the grandies.

We split our time between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. It was go go go!

This is our Christmas Photo Album.....

Arrived at Brisbane Airport, to a massive bear hug from Joel. The smiles say it all. Well after I had to send the Air Hostess back onto the plane to get my book and wallet I had left in the seat pocket!!!!

Day one and off to Twin Waters Resort where Juz & Bec and all the gang were having a few days holiday. To say the kids went crazy was an understatement.

One very happy Grandma.

Then a splash in the pool and spa.

Crazy boy!

We had our Sunshine Coast Christmas Day at Twin Waters for breakfast. Joel, Juz, Bec, Meg and all the kids. Jo and Wayne, too. Harland as usual happy to have his photo taken???

Fun at the Kawana Christmas Carols with Lani and Sienna.

The first week in Brisbane doing all the fun stuff.....

Cubby house camping....

Slip and Slide.....

Skate Park.......

Movies......

Pretend cooking and playing restaurant....

Real cooking....

Swimming at Thompsons Beach.....

Georgia Grace being...well...Georgia Grace!

And, of course, having a chat with Santa.

Love that they all still get excited about Christmas and Santa.

And then, the big day!

Christmas Lunch was a wonderful, lively affair at the Lighthouse Restaurant, Cleveland. A beautiful three course sit down lunch. Made even more special with all the extended Griffith / Venter families.

Chelsea and baby Willow.

Dez and Grandad Col.

It's not Christmas without crackers!

The Venter contingency.

Auntie Rose, Grandad and Uncle Phil.

Johnny and Kerry.

Jo and Kevin.

Dez and Kevin.

Mandy, Mark and Willow.

All the gorgeous Griffith girls - Karen, Mandy, Willow, Georgia Grace and Bec.

Two of my favourite boys.

Love these smiles.

Thanks to Auntie Rose for the Christmas "props".

A full on, fun filled week in Brisbane. Now off to the Coast.

The first couple of nights with Meg. Nothing like some quality Mummy time. Not to mention the delicious food!

Dez and Valerie. My ocean floating buddy! So many laughs and good times. One of our brilliant beach stays.

Jamie enjoying drink o'clock on the beach.

One of my favourite beaches. The beautiful Point Cartwright.

All the pretty trawlers at Mooloolaba.

And happy days. Finally a belly full of Good Food Fellas deliciousness!!!

Dez and Meg tucking in.

We had four absolutely brilliant, fun filled, action packed days with our mates Phil and Dee Devaney. Jaxson and Chelsea also came up for a beach stay with us. It filled us with such happiness.

There was so much to do.....

First stop, morning tea and a treasure hunt with Meg.

New Years Eve at La Balsa Park, overlooking Mooloolaba and the fireworks. Philby made sure the kids were all kitted out with their glow stick accessories.

Including himself ha ha!

Point Cartwright beach 2 minutes walk one way. La Balsa Park and the River two minutes the other way. Perfect.

The kids couldn't get enough of the surf. This was supposed to be a pre-dinner walk on the sand.
"Can we just get our feet wet?"

Then a bit deeper!

Oh, well....might as well go all the way!!!

Time for some SUPing!

The kids were born naturals. So...time for Grandma to have a go. I was most impressed that I managed to stay upright and on board for at least 10 minutes!

And of course there were refreshments.

This was hilarious. The words "I really must fix this chair" were literally just out of Phil's mouth, when the chair collapsed. Yep...needs fixing now!

Joel's Lani came to play in the surf with Chelsea.

Finished off with icy poles. Gotta love summer.

A visit to Kawana Dental to see all the gang, and have a teeth cleaning with Hygienist extraordinaire, Jorge. Really miss that awesome gang.

A few drinks and some "karaoke" after a jam session for our mate Jim's 50th birthday. Another fun catch up.

It had been go go go so we had a night "out" at our holiday club at Golden Beach, overlooking Bribie Island.

We came and went from "home" and Joel's family, consisting of Joel and Laura, Lani and Sienna and Jo and Wayne (Laura's parents). So good to be back in our Wurtulla / Currimundi zone.

So incredibly happy for Joel and Laura who got engaged on Christmas Day!!!

Bike ride time along the lake.

Sienna.

Lani and Sienna.

More beach fun at the Currimundi Lake mouth with my wonderful friend Tash and her kids and Lani and Sienna. I don't think we stopped talking all day!

Tash with Jack and William.

Tash with Lani and Stella.

All the kids loving the Lake.

There were so many more fun times with friends and family, but no photos to show it. We boarded the plane back to Perth feeling well loved and full of gratitude for such a wonderful family, and great friends. That being said, my hanky was pretty soggy for most of the flight. So hard to leave everyone behind.

However....new adventures await!

Esperance - Cape Le Grand - Norseman

Esperance 12th - 14th May 2017 The weather is starting to get chillier, which is a shame. The ocean is so blue, crystal clear and begging to floated in! A couple of days in Esperance to get the washing done, stock up on groceries and revel in this magnificent coastline before heading out to Cape Le Grand National Park. Great, quiet caravan park. Loving the cooler weather for camp fires. The foreshore in town was perfect for a picnic lunch and stroll along the jetty. Day two and off to explore the coastline. There is a tourist drive/loop called Great Ocean Drive. And it was great! First stop, the Pink Lake. Not very pink anymore, but magnificent on this incredibly calm morning. So many spectacular, magnificent, stunning, beautiful bays. Crystal clear sparkling water. The superlatives go on and on. I'll let the pictures tell the story. Simply taking it all in. A scramble down the stairs and over the rock pools.

Gippsland

Gippsland 23rd April - 4th May 2018 Victoria has so many beautiful little towns. From Bonnie Doon we wound our way down from the highlands through Marysville and Yarra Junction, heading east to Gippsland. Our destination - the little town of Yinnar near Moe, and our fellow travelling friends Kevin and Penny, who we met in Western Australia. Looking forward to some fun times. Kevin and Penny allowed us to park up in their driveway, so plenty of happy hours. Also, we had a number one guide to explore this region. Yinnar 23rd - 27th April 2018 Walhalla An easy day drive from Yinnar, Walhalla is a small town founded as a gold mining community in late 1862 and at its peak home to around 4,000 residents. Today, the town has a population of 20 permanent residents, and a large proportion of holiday houses. The town's name is taken from an early gold mine in the area, named for the German hall of fame, the Walhalla Temple. Walhalla has been restored for tourism and is a beautif

Nannup - Manjimup - Pemberton - Walpole

The Southern Forest Region 27th March - 14th April 2017 Stunning forest drives, walks through majestic karri, marri and tingle tree forests. Beautiful coastlines and quaint towns that once thrived on timber cutting. The first stop in this magnificent region, the small town of Nannup and our camp at Barrabup in the Karri forest. It feels so good to be back on the road exploring new areas after our huge stay in Moore River. Nannup (Barrabup Camp - National Park) Welcome to Nannup! Flowers everywhere and autumn trees with their golden leaves. The main street of Nannup. What a change! Camping among the tall trees instead of by the beach. No other campers while we were there. Ahhhhh the serenity. And our first camp fire in months. Not the greatest weather. So this is how you keep the camp fire going during a shower of rain! Lots of cheeky possums. Where we were camped was once a thriving timber mill. So hard to imagine as there is nothing but for
