The Beginning

30th March 2016

So....our life possessions are packed and stored. The Eagle is loaded and ready to fly. I think we are ready for the most amazing journey of our lives. Australia here we come!!!




First stop for the "shake down" Double Island Point on the Noosa North Shore. Our favourite place.
The weather couldn't have been more perfect. Balmy breezes, full moon rising from the ocean. Perfect holiday weather for lazing in the hammock.

So we are off to a great start. Next stop back to Wurtulla for a couple of days with Joel and his lot, then Brisbane to farewell Juz, Bec and the ragamuffins before heading out to Queen Mary Falls.

Esperance - Cape Le Grand - Norseman

Esperance 12th - 14th May 2017 The weather is starting to get chillier, which is a shame. The ocean is so blue, crystal clear and begging to floated in! A couple of days in Esperance to get the washing done, stock up on groceries and revel in this magnificent coastline before heading out to Cape Le Grand National Park. Great, quiet caravan park. Loving the cooler weather for camp fires. The foreshore in town was perfect for a picnic lunch and stroll along the jetty. Day two and off to explore the coastline. There is a tourist drive/loop called Great Ocean Drive. And it was great! First stop, the Pink Lake. Not very pink anymore, but magnificent on this incredibly calm morning. So many spectacular, magnificent, stunning, beautiful bays. Crystal clear sparkling water. The superlatives go on and on. I'll let the pictures tell the story. Simply taking it all in. Nindigully Pub to Cunnamulla

NINDIGULLY PUB We stayed at Nindigully Pub at the end of our last trip. The epitome of the great Aussie Pub so we were keen to stay there again. The free camp area is huge and plenty of dusty spots under gum trees situated on the Moonie River.  Standing guard over the freeloaders is the very rustic Pub. Crooked planking along the verandah, old timber bar, formal dining room full of history. Love it. Just a pity that now the barmaids (sorry staff) were Irish backpackers who lacked any enthusiasm or welcome. One couldn't even add 7 + 6 and didn't know what entree was. Hhhmmmmmm!!! Nevertheless we settled in for an ale or two until we got sick of the techno night club music.......really.......out here? A couple of peaceful lazy days reading, walking along the river and generally doing nothing!  Nindigilly Pub is Queensland’s oldest hotel located in its original condition and position on the banks of the Moonie River. West MacDonnell Ranges

10th - 17th April 2016 ORMISTON GORGE Unfortunately  we couldn't get into Redbank Gorge. The road was still flooded from the rain over the weekend, so we started at Ormiston Gorge. The day was freezing cold. Temperature read 12 degrees, feels like 6!!!!! At least the sun was struggling through again. Great campground. We didn't get there and set up until late in the day, so only had a quick look at the Gorge and then back to the van to get toasty warm. Doonas and the hot water bottles. Cosy! There are a couple of walks at Ormiston.  The first morning we did the short walk to the lookout.  WOW! WOW! WOW! The ranges are breathtakingly, stunningly, beautiful at every turn. The red red rock. Green green foliage. Blue blue sky.  Still chilly first thing. Had to break out the beanie. From the track looking back towards the campground. Happy hikers at the lookout.
