The Beginning

30th March 2016

So....our life possessions are packed and stored. The Eagle is loaded and ready to fly. I think we are ready for the most amazing journey of our lives. Australia here we come!!!




First stop for the "shake down" Double Island Point on the Noosa North Shore. Our favourite place.
The weather couldn't have been more perfect. Balmy breezes, full moon rising from the ocean. Perfect holiday weather for lazing in the hammock.

So we are off to a great start. Next stop back to Wurtulla for a couple of days with Joel and his lot, then Brisbane to farewell Juz, Bec and the ragamuffins before heading out to Queen Mary Falls.

19th May - 16th May 2017 The Nullarbor ! People seems to either love it, or hate it. Many say it is so long and boring, with nothing to see. Others contradict and say there is so much to see, if only you take the time. Well.....let's see. We can't wait to explore the vastness of this part of Australia. Stand in awe on the cliffs of the Great Australian Bight. And simply experience the stark, rugged  beauty that is our country. Camping in the bush or by the ocean. Bring it on! Our rig all ready, set to go. Top up with fuel at Norseman. Lucky we only needed a little bit! And hit the road.....not the cyclist. Crazy! First bush camp at Afgan Rocks a couple of hundred k's down the road. A free camp on a property. Down the track. To a large clearing complete with dam and windmill. Very rural. Feeling fantastic. A roaring fire, drinks and snacks. Not a soul in sight. Just us and the emus. Oh yeah! This is the life. ...

Esperance - Cape Le Grand - Norseman

Esperance 12th - 14th May 2017 The weather is starting to get chillier, which is a shame. The ocean is so blue, crystal clear and begging to floated in! A couple of days in Esperance to get the washing done, stock up on groceries and revel in this magnificent coastline before heading out to Cape Le Grand National Park. Great, quiet caravan park. Loving the cooler weather for camp fires. The foreshore in town was perfect for a picnic lunch and stroll along the jetty. Day two and off to explore the coastline. There is a tourist drive/loop called Great Ocean Drive. And it was great! First stop, the Pink Lake. Not very pink anymore, but magnificent on this incredibly calm morning. So many spectacular, magnificent, stunning, beautiful bays. Crystal clear sparkling water. The superlatives go on and on. I'll let the pictures tell the story. Simply taking it all in. A scramble down the stairs and over the rock pools. ...

Nannup - Manjimup - Pemberton - Walpole

The Southern Forest Region 27th March - 14th April 2017 Stunning forest drives, walks through majestic karri, marri and tingle tree forests. Beautiful coastlines and quaint towns that once thrived on timber cutting. The first stop in this magnificent region, the small town of Nannup and our camp at Barrabup in the Karri forest. It feels so good to be back on the road exploring new areas after our huge stay in Moore River. Nannup (Barrabup Camp - National Park) Welcome to Nannup! Flowers everywhere and autumn trees with their golden leaves. The main street of Nannup. What a change! Camping among the tall trees instead of by the beach. No other campers while we were there. Ahhhhh the serenity. And our first camp fire in months. Not the greatest weather. So this is how you keep the camp fire going during a shower of rain! Lots of cheeky possums.
